Onboarding - How to take a site live via Go Daddy

Go Daddy is one of the most popular Domain Registrars out there and a lot of clients use them to purchase their domains. Here is how you take someone live with GoDaddy.

  1. First, we'll need to take them to https://www.godaddy.com/ and have them log into their account.
  2. From there we'll need to take them up in the top right drop arrow and have them select My Products.
  3. From here, we'll need to go down to the domain they wish to use for their Real Geeks website and select the Three Black Dots and select Manage DNS
  4. From within Manage DNS, you'll scroll down to the Nameservers section and select Change.
  5. Within Change, you will want to select Enter your Own Nameservers.
  6. From here, you will need to enter the four nameservers below. You'll want to sure to click on the Add Nameserver button twice to get a 3rd and a 4th slot added if necessary.
    - ns1.rgnameserver.com
    - ns2.rgnameserver.com
    - ns3.rgnameserver.com
    - ns4.rgnameserver.com

  7. BEFORE YOU HIT SAVE PLEASE MAKE SURE TO GET MX RECORDS ADDED WHEN NECESSARY.
  8. Go ahead and hit the SAVE Button.
  9. You'll get a messaging wishing for the client to consent to the changes. Go ahead and have them Consent.
  10. If necessary, some clients from here will get a One Time Code that they will need to select SEND CODE, and Go Daddy will email that over to their account to add on.
  11. After that is completed, the client should get a message saying "Feature may be unavailable at this time..." Pull up your terminal and double-check to make sure you see the nameserver change on our end. If that checks out, we are good to go!
