Navigation bars are horizontal link lists near the top and bottom of most pages. Your new RealGeeks site includes navigation bars with default links. You will want to customize these links to fit your site's needs.
Your site will have three to five types of navigation bars depending on your settings and template
Primary Top: Located at the very top of your website. Due to the responsive nature of our sites, this navigation bar will turn into a dropdown menu on mobile devices.
Your Primary Top Navigation Bar will automatically turn into a dropdown menu when there are many links, so much so that the text reaches your logo on the left. This is due to the responsive nature of our sites. If you find that your site is constantly showing the dropdown menu instead, you may want to remove links or shorten the visible text in your links. This will always happen with smaller browser sizes.
Links visible:
Dropdown menu:
Secondary Top: Located second from the top (Available on older templates only*)
Primary Bottom: Located second from the bottom
Secondary Bottom: Located at the bottom of your website
Seller Leads: Located on the Seller Leads Page (Available with paid Seller Leads tool)
* The Secondary Top Navigation Bar was a part of the older site designs. You may see still see it as an option in the backend if you are working with Miranda, Miranda Thin or Molly, but it no longer appears on the site so you can ignore it.
Once you've determined which navigation bar you want to edit, go to yourdomain.com/admin and click Navigation Bars located under the Content section. Then click on the correct Navigation Bar.
1. You will be presented with several Navigation Bar Link Numbers. This makes for an easy organization as you can click and drag these item numbers to reorder how they will appear on your sidebar.
2. There are two link types: Custom Link and Contact Link. You will always want to select the Custom link unless linking to your Contact Us form.
3. Add Anchor Text for each link. This is the text presented to viewers.
4. Add the URL of the page you are linking to. When linking to pages within your RealGeeks' site, remember to use Relative URLs. It is imperative that you use backslashes at the beginning and end of the relative URL. Example: /kailua/
5. Checkmark Nofollow if you do not want Google to index this link.
6. Checkmark Delete to remove the link.
7. At the bottom of the page, click save and you will be auto-directed to the previous page with your changes done.
